We are seeking a Trackperson for our Client based in Portadown. The successful candidates will undertake all track maintenance activities safely, efficiently and to a high quality standard. Inspect assets for defects and oversee repairs and set up safe systems of work to protect staff from trains.

Salary: £32,938.22 per annum

Working Hours: Rotating shift pattern

Hours per Week: 41.1

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Job Duties:

- Carry out all activities associated with maintenance of railway track and lineside area.

- Undertake repairs to defects and take responsibility for quality of work.

- Take charge of group of workers and ensure work carried safely and efficiently to a high standard

- Undertake out track inspections, including patrolling, to identify and prioritise defects

- Set up safe systems of work to protect staff from trains in accordance with NIR Rule Book including

TSC, ES, PICOP, Lookout, EO and Points Operator.

- Use all hand tools associated with track maintenance including mechanical tools.

- Undertake slinging and banksman duties for handling materials

- Drive van or crew bus up to 7500kg or with up to 16 seats and tow a trailer over 750kg (Cat C1E and

D1E on licence).

Job Criteria:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in track maintenance work

- Experience in recognizing track failure mechanisms and methods of repair

- Numerate and Literate

- PTS certified or willing to obtain Competent in the use of all small plant used in track maintenance

- Demonstrate commitment to producing high quality work, safely and efficiently

- Ability to perform complex work in outdoor environment

- Demonstrate knowledge of track defects and how to repair

- Ability to accurately undertake safety critical communications

- Ability to satisfy such medical standards as may be relevant to the post

- Ability to work shift pattern including regular nights and occasional weekends

- Available outside working hours to respond to emergency calls and coordinate works

Desirable:

- - Experience in organising people, plant and materials to undertake repair works

- Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety at work

- Hold a Driving Licence for vehicles up to 16 seats or 7500kg and towing trailer over 750kg (Cat C1E and D1E on licence)
